Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium Patient Housing

The 108,748-sf Patient Housing facility provides a welcoming “home away from home” for patients traveling from remote rural communities across Alaska to receive care at the Alaska Native Medical Center, often staying for extended periods during treatment. Designed as part of a three-phase campus project that also includes a parking structure and skybridge, the six-level facility contains 200 guest rooms that accommodate both short and extended stays. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide daylight and views to the surrounding landscape, while flexible furnishings allow rooms to function as both sleeping and living spaces.

The central hub of the building is a dining area with a Marché-style servery framed by exposed glue-laminated timber and views of a landscaped courtyard and outdoor play area. Additional amenities—including communal kitchens, family gathering spaces, a market, and wellness areas—support comfort, cultural connection, and community during patients’ stays.
